New National Rail ticket hall at Farringdon

Farringdon station is still a work in progress but the new National Rail ticket hall has now opened opposite the existing entrance.

Stairs lead down to the newly-extended Thameslink route platforms where the first 12-carriage services now stop.

Work in the ticket hall - on the lifts and the First Capital Connect ticket office - will be finished in the spring along with the rest of the station.

The main entrance to the London Underground station in Cowcross Street is closed for refurbishment of the Tube concourse, ticket office and ticket gates.

Tube passengers are being redirected to the Turnmill Street side entrance (see map below) where a new circulation area gives extra direct access to Tube services on platform 1 as well as the new footbridge that also gives off to platform 2 and the Thameslink route platforms 3 and 4.

6 February 2012

On Monday, 6 February, the main Cowcross Street entrance will reopen. The concourse inside will be wider, having been extended over platforms 3 and 4 (it had previously been extended over platforms 1 and 2), and link directly into the Tube concourse off Turnmill Street.

In the following weeks, London Underground's temporary ticket office will be dismantled and moved back into the new ticket office inside the Cowcross Street concourse.

Lifts will be brought into service across the station in the spring which is when First Capital Connect's ticket office will open and the heritage shop fronts be revealed.
