The multi-billion pound Thameslink upgrade programme moved a step closer to completion today as Network Rail finished work to extend the platforms at First Capital Connect-managed station Luton Airport Parkway.
We’ve great news from the Department for Transport which on 27 November released the information needed by manufacturers hoping to design and build the Thameslink Programme’s brand new eight and 12-carriage trains.
Significant changes, in particular to services between Farringdon and Barbican and Moorgate, are included in the new winter timetable which comes into force on the Thameslink route on Sunday 14 December 2008.
On 10 December, Programme Directors for First Capital Connect and Network Rail will be answering customer questions submitted online about the Thameslink Programme.
A major publicity drive was launched on 21 October to promote this website and keep rail passengers informed about the vast £5.5 billion programme of work now under way to transform the Thameslink route.
Bombardier is building 23 four-carriage Class 377 units that First Capital Connect will progressively roll out on the Thameslink route in 2009.
