Service update - Thameslink Programme

Easter weekend engineering work

24-03-2010

Network Rail is working over Easter to progress the Thameslink Programme. There is a huge amount going on in central London as well as at West Hampstead and Luton where platforms are being extended.

Easter map

These are the changes to be aware of:

  1. Thameslink Programme engineering work in central London will see the usual weekend closure between St Pancras International and London Bridge/Herne Hill extended across the entire holiday weekend, from Good Friday to Easter Monday inclusive
  2. In addition there will be no half-hourly stopping service to/from London from Luton, Luton Airport Parkway and Harpenden all Easter weekend, from Good Friday to Easter Monday inclusive. These services will instead start and terminate at St Albans.
  3. The four-trains-an-hour semi-fast services to/from London and Bedford will still run all Easter weekend with the following exception:
In the early hours of Easter Monday (00.30-04.30) there will be rail replacement buses running Leagrave-Luton-Luton Airport Parkway-St Albans.
  4. In the early hours of Easter Sunday (02.00-08.00) , a bus service will replace semi-fast services to/from Bedford between Hendon and St Pancras International. When these services resume, they will run this day into the high-level East Midlands platforms 1-4 at St Pancras International. This is because of other Thameslink Programme work elsewhere on the route.

Some of these changes are necessary because Network Rail is installing a new wider bridge at Luton which will require local road closures.
