Buses replace trains St Albans-Leagrave

Platforms are being lengthened at Luton ready for the first longer 12-carriage Thameslink route trains in December 2011.

This will ultimately reduce overcrowding on the Thameslink route but unfortunately there will be some disruption on the first three Sundays in May.

On Sundays 2, 9 and 16 May:

• East Midlands Trains will not operate south of Bedford
• Rail replacement buses will replace First Capital Connect trains between St Albans and Leagrave

There will be four bus services (as shown on the map below):

1. Direct between Bedford and St Albans
2. Direct between Bedford and Luton Airport (not Luton Airport Parkway station)
3. Direct between St Albans and Luton Airport (not Luton Airport Parkway station)
4. All stations between Leagrave and St Albans

• (The shuttle bus between Luton Airport Parkway station and Luton Airport will continue to operate)

Allow up to an hour extra for your journey. Bus timetables will be published week by week on the First Capital Connect website; a link will be added here when the first is available to view.

East Midlands Trains customers should use First Capital Connect services to travel between St Albans and London St Pancras International; your tickets will be valid.

First Capital Connect will also operate a reduced service on Saturdays 1, 8 and 15 May and on Bank Holiday Monday 3 May.

There are also regular changes to other weekend services on the Thameslink route. For example, on Sunday 9 May First Capital Connect will not be able to call at London Bridge and on Sunday 16 May buses will replace trains between Haywards Heath and Brighton.
