23-06-2010

Foundations are starting to take shape at the site of the new Farringdon national rail ticket hall that First Capital Connect will share with Crossrail opposite the existing station entrance.

Once completed, late in 2011, this central London Thameslink route station will be able to accommodate our first longer 12-carriage services.

Work is also progressing well on a new concourse at the side entrance to Farringdon station, in Turnmill St, which will be completed by the end of the year. This will be chiefly for London Underground customers but the entrance will continue to give access to Thameslink route platforms via the footbridge.

A new temporary ticket office is in place at the corner of Turnmill St and Cowcross St ready for when the existing office is refurbished later this year.

Hoardings will soon appear at either end of platforms 3 and 4 as Network Rail begins extending the platforms and building a new roof.
