Service update - Thameslink Programme

Tickets to Barbican and Moorgate

25-08-2010

As previously advertised, Thameslink route tickets to Barbican and Moorgate cannot be sold beyond 22 March 2011 - the 24 month anniversary of the date on which the branch line closed to facilitate the Thameslink Programme and tackle overcrowding. It is at this point that the Department for Transport funding that covers the London Underground element of the journey ceases.

First Capital Connect has not been able to sell an annual season ticket to these specific destinations since March 2010. Shorter length season tickets are available up to March 2011 at the usual discounted rates for such lengths of time. This will be advantageous up to the end of the year.

Past this date, customers will need to buy a Travelcard to cover the cost of the Tube journey. Alternatively customers can walk from Farringdon (8 minutes to Barbican, 18 minutes to Moorgate at a medium pace), or cycle (a new bicycle rack has been installed at City Thameslink in Pilgrim Street).

There are also buses that run from St Pancras International and City Thameslink. See our alternative travel page.
